James came into our store seeking something quite different for his lady. He didn’t want to give her a diamond as she wasn’t big on diamonds to begin with. Instead he wanted to use some themes and ideas that he knew she liked: she loved butterflies and the colours blue and green.
He then thought long and hard about his design and decided he didn’t want it to be set in a straight band either. After some back and forth we came up with a chevron shaped band, with diamond and rare bright green tsavorite garnets in channels flanking either side of the centre stone, which is a beautiful pale blue trilliant-cut aquamarine. Since James’ partner worked with children and aquamarine isn’t super hard, we agreed a bezel setting would be best to both protect the stone and suit her lifestyle better – with no prongs or sharp edges to catch on anything or anyone. A final touch was to add a pierced silhouette of a butterfly to the far side of the setting. We love adding such little personal messages visible only to those who care to look closely at the ring.
We wish them both the very best on their travels around the world.
